Is Samsung Galaxy Watch FE launching soon?

A report claims that the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE will soon be available for purchase. The South Korean electronics giant is rumoured to be releasing a 'Fan Edition' (FE) version of its Wear OS-powered Galaxy Watch wristwatch soon. Its features are rumoured to be comparable to those of an older Galaxy Watch model.

Three model numbers for the alleged Galaxy Watch FE were discovered by Android Headlines in what looks to be an IMEI database. The global model is identified by the model number SM-R866F, whereas the US and South Korean markets are denoted by the model numbers SM-R866U and SM-R866N, respectively. The article claims that a “budget-friendly price” will be associated with the launch of the Galaxy Watch FE.

The model number of the August 2021-released Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, SM-R860F, is very similar to the alleged Galaxy Watch FE variant. This implies that it might be released as a reasonably priced Wear OS wearable powered by the Exynos W920 CPU.

Online information on the alleged Galaxy Watch FE, such as its hardware specs and cost, is still pending. The wearable could make its debut as Samsung’s most reasonably priced wearable, sporting the Galaxy Watch 4’s style and running Wear OS. Similar in approach, but with fewer capabilities at a lower cost, are Apple Watch SE variants.

Samsung has not released any information regarding its plans to introduce a new Galaxy Watch FE model, but if one does exist, it should be released in the upcoming weeks. Previous sources state that the South Korean company plans to introduce three of its next-generation smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 7 models, at its next Galaxy Unpacked presentation, which is expected to happen in July, along with its next-generation foldable phones.
