Citroen Unveils Basalt Vision Coupe SUV

Citroen introduces the all-new Basalt Vision coupe-SUV as part of its C-Cubed program, marking the fourth addition following the C3 and eC3 hatchbacks, and the C3 Aircross SUV. Scheduled for release in India in the latter half of 2024, the Basalt aims to blend SUV aesthetics with sedan-like proportions, promising an exciting entry into the market.

Distinct Exterior Design:
The Basalt, set to be named so in production, showcases a striking exterior design reminiscent of the C3 Aircross. Notable features include a refined front fascia with projector headlamps, a two-part grille, and a faux silver skid plate. Its profile reveals squared-off cladding over the wheel arches, a distinctive window line, and a sleek roofline meeting the boot. Stylish alloy wheels and redesigned tail-lamps further enhance its visual appeal.

Size and Segment Placement:
Measuring approximately 4.3 meters in length, the Basalt falls into the midsize coupe-SUV segment. Its SUV aesthetics, elevated ride height, and coupe-like roofline position it alongside upcoming models like the Tata Curvv, catering to the evolving preferences of modern drivers.

Interior Features and Powertrain:
While interior details remain undisclosed, expectations suggest a carryover from the C3 Aircross with added features such as electric folding mirrors, automatic climate control, cruise control, wireless charging, push-button start, and keyless entry. Powered by a 110hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, the Basalt offers versatility with both manual and torque converter automatic transmissions. An all-electric variant is also anticipated to join the lineup following the petrol model's launch.

Upcoming Announcements:
Citroen plans to unveil further details about the Basalt in the middle of the year, with the electric version expected to follow by January or February 2025. This strategic approach aligns with the brand's commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction in the evolving automotive landscape.
