Is Mercedes-Benz GLE worth buying? (Price, Specifications, Features and Overall)

The Mercedes-Benz GLE (M-class) is a spacious, five-seat luxury SUV. In India, there are petrol and diesel engine options for the Mercedes-Benz GLE, and all-wheel drive is standard. Launched in 2020, the most recent generation of GLE is now available globally as a long-wheelbase model by default. In addition to six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, it provides a more affordable four-cylinder diesel engine in the 300d.
Design

Compared to its predecessor, the Mercedes-Benz GLE is longer and sleeker. The taillights are split into two sections, the SUV appears wider and has a more athletic appearance. In addition to standard safety features like active brake assist and blind spot assist, the GLE 400d and GLE 300d both have nine airbags and seven airbags, respectively, for added protection.

The 400d also receives the newly developed Airmatic air suspension in conjunction with the E-active body control suspension. The spring and damping forces at each wheel can be individually adjusted with this system, according to the company, it is the only one system in market.

The large touchscreen infotainment system, ambient lighting, premium leather upholstery, and other contemporary premium features are all included in the new GLE. Along with gesture controls, the MBUX system is equipped with a voice prompt that says "Hey Mercedes" on the large touchscreen. Additionally, the SUV has a roomy 825-liter boot that can be expanded to 2,055-liters with the second-row seat folded down.

Specifications
1. Engine
Two BS6 diesel engine options are available for the Mercedes-Benz GLE. A 2.0-liter, four-cylinder diesel engine producing 265 horsepower and 500 to 750 Nm of torque powers the 300d. With this engine, you can sprint from 0 to 100 mph in 7.2 seconds. The 3.0-liter, six-cylinder diesel engine that powers the second diesel option, the 450d, produces 750Nm of torque and 375bhp. The SUV can now reach 100 kmph in 5.8 seconds thanks to this. The 3.0-liter inline-six cylinder petrol engine that powers the new vehicle produces 265 horsepower and 550 Nm. All three engines have 4MATIC AWD and are paired with an automated 9G-TRONIC gearbox.

2. Mileage
The GLE boasts a pretty impressive fuel efficiency for an SUV in its class, clocking in at around 13.8-14 kmpl. Despite its size and power, the GLE manages to sip on fuel rather than gulp it down like some other gas guzzlers out there.

3. Transmission
This car is perfect for those who prioritize ease and convenience on the road. With its automatic transmission, you can enjoy a smooth and hassle-free driving experience. The days are gone of constantly shifting gears and worrying about stalling in traffic. The automatic transmission takes care of all that for you, seamlessly changing gears as needed.

Additionally, this SUV's torque range is equally impressive, ranging from 500 to 750 Newton meters (nm).

Overall
It's understandable why the GLE's four-cylinder model has consistently sold the best in India. Yes, you give up some creature comforts, but you get what matters most for a much smaller price: a large SUV with excellent road presence and a three-star rating on the nose. That makes it our top choice among the range.
