Maruti Swift Next-Gen is going to Launch on May 9.

It’s time for the nation’s best-selling vehicle to receive its most recent major update. We are referring to the latest generation of Maruti Suzuki Swift, which debuted globally in late 2023 in Japan and is currently available! Here's what we know from spy units and online leaks while we wait for the prices and official announcement on May 9. Engine and feature data have been leaked online, and reservations are open for Rs. 11,000 already.

Sharper Design
Despite being a new generation of hatchbacks, the external style changes are more akin to a facelift: they are modest and sparse in number. It receives new LED DRLs for the fascia as well as a redesigned grille and bumper. The new 16-inch alloy wheels and the rear door handles’ new location—off the C-pillar—are the two most noticeable modifications in the car’s look. For a sportier look, the back receives new tail lights and a new bumper with darker accents.

Fresh Interiors
More substantial than the improvements to the external design are the modifications made to the cabin, particularly the dashboard. The 2017 Swift has a revised climate control panel, elegant AC vents, and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit that all bear similarities to the Maruti Baleno console. The dashboard on the driver’s side is still a dual-pod analogue design with a TFT multi-information display, so it doesn’t appear all that different. Additionally, a lighter cabin concept with portions of pale and dark grey is anticipated.

Brand new engine
The 1.2-litre 4-cylinder K-series petrol engine will be replaced by a new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z-series engine in the 2024 Swift. It will supposedly be more driveable and have greater fuel economy, with a performance rating of 82 PS and 112 Nm of torque. It will be available from Maruti with the same 5-speed MT and AMT choices.

Upgraded Features
The 2024 Swift boasts a more extensive feature set compared to the hatchback’s current iteration. The larger infotainment system, which is expected to support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly, was already mentioned. Additionally, Maruti’s linked car technology will be added. Wireless charging and six airbags as standard are two more feature enhancements. Conveniences like push-button start/stop, auto air conditioning, cruise control, and a rear parking camera will still be available.

Expected Prices
We anticipate that the new Maruti Swift will cost starting at Rs. 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom) and command a higher price than the previous hatchback. It will still compete with the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and serve as a substitute for vehicles like the Maruti Wagon R and Renault Triber.
