Safest Cars in India, Skoda Kushaq and Skoda Slavia?

All Skoda Kushaq and Skoda Slavia model variants will now come equipped with six airbags as standard equipment from Skoda Auto India. Prior to this, all lower trims of the small SUV and sedan had only dual front airbags, while the top-spec Style models had six airbags.

The Global NCAP has previously awarded the Skoda Kushaq and Slavia a 5-star crash safety rating. Furthermore, the grade is valid across the entire range of cars because the NCAP only evaluates the base model. Therefore, Skoda’s decision to standardise on six airbags is commendable, even though it comes at a cost and isn’t very large.

Engine and Gearbox

Two petrol engines are available for the Kushaq and Slavia: a 1.0-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder TSI and a 1.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder TSI. The 1.5-litre TSI motor produces torque of 250 Nm of torque and 148 bhp, while the former produces peak torque of 178 Nm and 113 horsepower. Each has a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, and the 1.0 TSI can have a six-speed automatic torque converter unit, while the latter can have a seven-speed DSG automatic.

 

Competition

Regarding the competitor, the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos currently come equipped with six airbags as standard on all trim levels. Concurrently, the Hyundai Verna is the sedan segment leader, with six airbags as standard equipment. Additionally, last year, amenities like an illuminated footwell area and segment-first motorised seats for the driver and co-driver were added to the top-of-the-line Kushaq and Slavia models.

Price

The current pricing ranges for the Skoda Kushaq and Slavia, ex-showroom in India, are Rs. 11.99 lakh to Rs. 19.79 lakh and Rs. 11.63 lakh to Rs. 18.83 lakh, respectively.

Prices for the MY 2024 Kushaq and Slavia have increased as well in comparison to the 2023 model year models. The mid-spec Ambition models are now Rs. 35,000 more expensive than the entry-level Active trims, which have increased in price by Rs. 10,000. The highest-spec style variations’ prices have not altered.
