Is Aprilia Tuareg 660 the Ultimate Adventure Bike for Indian Riders?

After much anticipation, Aprilia has finally unveiled the Tuareg 660 adventure motorcycle in the Indian market, offering riders a thrilling blend of performance and capability. Priced between Rs 18.85 lakh to Rs 19.16 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the Tuareg 660 is positioned as a premium adventure offering from Aprilia.

Impressive Powertrain and Performance:
The Tuareg 660 is powered by the proven 659cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, shared with the RS 660 and Tuono 660 models. This engine configuration delivers a commendable output of 80hp at 9,250rpm and 70Nm of torque at 6,500rpm, ensuring an exhilarating riding experience on and off the road. Despite its twin-cylinder setup, the bike manages to keep its weight relatively low at 204kg, further enhancing its agility and handling.

Advanced Features and Technology:
Aprilia has equipped the Tuareg 660 with a host of advanced features and technologies to enhance rider convenience and safety. The bike features a robust tubular steel frame with fully adjustable suspension from KYB, including a USD fork and monoshock offering 240mm of wheel travel at both ends. Braking performance is top-notch, courtesy of twin 300mm discs up front with Brembo calipers and a 260mm rear disc. The adventure-ready 21/18-inch wire-spoked wheel setup is paired with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tubeless tires, ensuring excellent grip on various terrains.

Sophisticated Electronics and Rider Aids:
Electronic rider aids on the Tuareg 660 include traction control, engine braking, cruise control, riding modes, and switchable dual-channel ABS, providing riders with a customizable and controlled riding experience across diverse conditions.

Pricing and Market Positioning:
While the Tuareg 660 offers a premium adventure biking experience, its CBU import status contributes to its higher price range. However, enthusiasts looking for a high-performance adventure motorcycle with advanced features and Italian craftsmanship will find the Tuareg 660 an enticing option.

Updated 2024 Pricing and Availability:
In addition to the Tuareg 660 launch, Aprilia has revised prices for its other models for 2024. The Tuono 660 is now priced at Rs 17.44 lakh, the RS 660 at Rs 17.74 lakh, and the flagship RSV4 Factory at Rs 31.26 lakh. These bikes, imported from Italy, require a 50 percent booking deposit and have an estimated waiting period of around three months, catering to a discerning niche of motorcycle enthusiasts in India.
