The launch date of the foldable iPhone was rescheduled from the fourth quarter of 2026 to the first quarter of 2027, according to a report by the Korean outlet AlphaBiz, which cited a business executive with knowledge of the situation. The newspaper had already stated that the iPhone foldable would launch in the latter part of 2026. According to reports, the launch schedule was rescheduled after taking into account the logistics of a number of elements, including the availability of foldable displays.
The study also states that, in spite of the delay, significant component suppliers, including those that make displays, are anticipated to carry out their work in accordance with the company’s initial plan. There are rumours that Apple changed its people internally. Employees at Vision Pro are purportedly being sent by the company to work on foldable gadgets instead.
It is thought that Apple is now working on prototypes for at least two foldable iPhone models that resemble clamshells. According to reports, the business does not have them in its mass production plans for 2024 or 2025. The brand’s first foldable phone is rumoured to have an 8-inch primary display and a 6-inch exterior display. It has been claimed that the corporation is in talks with LG Display (LGD) and Samsung Display (SDC) over supply orders.
The manufacturer of iPhones is actively pursuing patents pertaining to foldable screens. According to reports, it has contacted at least one Asian supplier for parts for two different-sized foldable iPhone models. There are rumours that an iPad that folds is also in the works. It is said to carry a 20-inch display.
