Is Microsoft GPT-4 in Copilot worse than its older version?

Chat GPT-4 Turbo, the most sophisticated language model from OpenAI, is currently offered via Microsoft Copilot for free.

Model
Microsoft has made GPT-4 Turbo, which was previously only available to Pro subscribers, available to all Copilot users. In a recent post on X, company executive Mikhail Parakhin verified this, writing, "GPT4-Turbo replaced GPT-4 in the Copilot free tier after quite some work." Expert users still have the option to select the previous model (a toggle is there).

Conversion style
By choosing the conversation style as creative or exact, users of the free tier of Copilot on Windows PCs or smartphones (Android and iOS) can now utilise OpenAI's most powerful language model. The toggle can be used by Copilot Pro users to return to GPT-4. The most powerful large language model from OpenAI is called GPT-4 Turbo, and it offers bigger context windows and improved multimodal capability. In comparison to GPT-4, it also costs less to operate.

Features
Its new features, including knowledge up to April 2023, functional calling updates, and JASON mode for better coding capacity, were initially revealed back in November 2023. Up to 300 pages of text prompt (128k context window) can be accepted by it. It seems reasonable that Microsoft would provide the most recent model, which is significantly less expensive to operate and provides end users with enhanced functionality and experience, given that it is two times less expensive for output tokens and three times less expensive for input tokens.

Price (Subscription)
At Rs. 2,000 per month, Microsoft Copilot Pro provides priority access to GPT-4 and GPT-4 Turbo with less downtime than the free tier. It can also produce graphics and respond to queries more quickly. Copilot Pro allows customers with Microsoft 365 subscriptions to enhance Word, Excel, and Outlook using artificial intelligence.
