Elon Musk Says Grok AI Will Be Available to All Premium Subscribers on X

The owner of X (previously known as Twitter), Elon Musk, declared on Wednesday that all XAI Premium subscribers will have access to Grok AI, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered chatbot. Only a few days have passed since the billionaire released the open source version of its large language model (LLM), Grok-1. Previously available exclusively with the priciest membership level, Premium+, the AI chatbot is now being added to the Premium tier as well. Grok AI will still be unavailable to Basic Tier users.

In a post on X, Musk revealed the news, writing, “Grock will be enabled for all premium subscribers (not just premium+).” He did not say when exactly this would be released, although it is anticipated to happen before April. The chatbot is currently accessible in 48 countries, including India, and it is anticipated that Grok will soon expand to the Premium tier in every region.

The cost of an X Premium+ subscription in India is Rs. 1,300 per month, or Rs. 13,600 annually. The premium tier, on the other hand, costs Rs. 6,800 a year or Rs. 650 every month. The highest reply boost across all tiers, no advertisements displayed (compared to fewer ads in Premium compared to Basic), the ability to write and publish articles directly on X, and access to Grok are now the extra features of the Premium+ tier.

Grok will now also be available to premium customers with this upgrade. In December 2023, X’s Premium+ subscribers in the US were granted early access to the chatbot, which was created by Musk’s AI company, xAI. There are now 48 nations where the chatbot may be found. It was constructed using Grok-1, the AI company’s native large language model (LLM). It is capable of answering queries, creating content, and having conversations with users, just like the majority of chatbots. The business claims that no pre-trained data from X was used to train the foundation model.

Grok-1, a 314 billion parameter Mixture-of-Experts model, had its base model weights and network architecture made available earlier this month by xAI under an Apache 2.0 licence that permits both commercial and research use.
