Is Mercedes-Benz EQE the fastest electric car?

The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV is positioned perfectly in the middle of Mercedes' electric vehicle range because, when you step in, it has the multipurpose qualities of an SUV along with the highest level of luxury. The EQE launched in India on 15 September, 2023. Due to the more modern exterior and interior design language, this is unquestionably one of the better models from Mercedes-Benz's all-electric lineup.

Design
The main goal of its design is to maximise aerodynamic efficiency through streamlining. This car has no upright design elements or sharp edges anywhere on it. When you look at the sweeping roofline, the aero-efficient alloy design, the flat underbody panelling, and the numerous spoilers, it all looks very smooth and sleek. Actually, the rear side of the EQE SUV is equipped with cladding spoilers, which help to direct airflow around the back wheels.

The cabin of the EQE SUV is good. Despite this, it's not particularly impressive in the traditional sense. It has a 56-inch curved glass panel with three separate screens inside of it. Although the front seats are roomy and comfortable, the interior's dark colour scheme lacks an overall sense of space. The floating centre console offers ample storage space, including room for two smartphones, two cup holders, and a sizable cubbyhole beneath the driver's armrest.

Specifications
Battery
With a battery pack capacity of 90.5kWh, the EQE 500+ 4MATIC boasts an electric motor with an output of 408bhp/858Nm and a range of 550km. It has a top speed of 210 mph and can sprint from 0 to 100 mph in 4.9 seconds. You receive an 11kW wallbox charger as part of the package. In less than 60 minutes, a 170kW DC fast charger can charge your device from 10% to 80%.

Performance
Being an SUV, the EQE is a large, heavy car. All your senses will be delighted by the way it drives at low speeds and picks up speed when you even slightly press the throttle pedal. Even though the acceleration may not feel as brutal as that of a V8-powered AMG Mercedes, this heavy SUV gains speed easily in a straight line and doesn't really need to.

Features
With the EQE, Mercedes-Benz offers lots of features, including the cutting-edge MBUX Hyperscreen, DIgital Light, active ambient lighting, wireless charger, multiple airbags, multi-zone temperature control, panoramic sunroof, and a hi-fi sound system. Drive modes come in three different types: Eco, Comfort, and Sport.

Safety
The EQE SUV boasts numerous ADAS features, a 360-degree camera, four zones of climate control with an integrated air purifier, and nine airbags for safety.

Colours
It has seven colour options: Obsidian Black Metallic, Sodalite Blue Metallic, Emerald Green Metallic, Velvet Brown Metallic, High-Tech Silver Metallic, Selenite Grey Metallic and Polar White.

Pros
  • Outstanding build quality.
  • Enough range.
  • First-class cabin.
Cons
  • Expensive.
  • Dependable ride quality.

Price
The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV costs Rs. 1.39 crore (ex-showroom).

Overall
For those who want to join the luxury electric vehicle (EV) trend, the Mercedes EQE SUV is a great option. It offers plenty of speed, plenty of luxury, and plenty of comfort. The best part is that, even when fully loaded, it has adequate ground clearance to handle big speed bumps.
