2023 Indian Roadmaster, Springfield, and Super Chief

The classic V-twin baggers feature an improved clutch and new colors.

With Indian releasing a massive data trove of new and returning 2023 models earlier this month, we figured we’d chop it all up into smaller groups to make it easier to digest. Here, then, are the brand’s returning Roadmaster, Springfield, and Super Chief models, back for the new model year with only a few very minor changes and a couple of new colors.

Indian brings back three Roadmaster models for 2023, as well as two Springfield baggers, and two Super Chief trims; there is no Roadmaster Elite this year. Small updates include a new slipper clutch for all these Thunder Stroke-powered models and a revised LED headlight for the Roadmaster, but otherwise no mechanical changes for any of the bikes below.

The full-dress Roadmaster returns for 2023 with the Thunder Stroke 116 V-twin, a 7-inch touchscreen with Ride Command (Apple CarPlay-ready), ride modes, heated grips, locking luggage, cruise control, and more. The accessory Heated Seat and Heated and Cooled Seat also now feature haptics.Indian Motorcycle

The 2023 Roadmaster Dark Horse sports a slightly more modern vibe and way more black than the base model, but it’s also mechanically unchanged except for the new clutch and improved headlight. This Black Smoke color starts at $30,999, with the Bronze Pearl Metallic and Silver Quartz Smoke at $31,749.Indian Motorcycle

Take the Roadmaster Dark Horse’s more minimal profile and premium features and sprinkle it with chrome finishes instead of black and you have the Roadmaster Limited. Stryker Red Metallic is a new color for 2023, and will cost $30,749 as will the bike in Black Azure Crystal. Clutch and LED headlight are revised for 2023.Indian Motorcycle

Rocking a classic style with valanced fenders and lots of chrome, the 2023 Springfield returns with its quick-release windshield and locking saddlebags as standard equipment. A new clutch is meant to improve feel and reduce lever effort. This year you can choose between Spirit Blue Metallic over Silver Quartz Metallic or Silver Quart Metallic over Bronze Pearl Metallic.

Like last year, the 2023 Springfield Dark Horse features blacked-out finishes, but this particular trim also ditches the windshield. The Dark Horse gets a 19-inch front wheel and mid-rise handlebars as opposed to the base Springfield’s 17-inch hoop and lower bars. But the locking saddlebags, cruise control, ride modes, and more are here too, and for 2023 you can choose between the same Black Smoke or Quartz Gray as last year.

Also back for 2023 are both versions of Indian’s Super Chief, in base and Limited trims. The base model here comes with the Thunder Stroke 111 V-twin as standard. The new clutch appears here as well.

The Super Chief Limited steps it up with the bigger Thunderstroke 116 engine plus the addition of the 4-inch touchscreen with Ride Command, navigation, and Bluetooth. Updates for 2023 include the new clutch and ability to connect the bike to your RIde Command account. In Black Metallic without ABS.
