Maruti Suzuki has launched a CNG variant of its popular hatchback, the Alto K10, making it the 13th CNG model in brand's line-up. It is available only in VXI trim priced at Rs 5,94,500 /- (ex-showroom)
The Alto K10 CNG is powered by K-Series 1.0 litre engine which produces 65hp and 89Nm of torque while running on petrol, however, it makes 56hp and 82Nm in CNG mode. It gets a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Maruti claims the Alto CNG can offer a fuel economy of 33.85km/kg. Maruti says it has updated the suspension setup to improve overall ride quality and comfort. The car gets dual-interdepenent ECUs to ensure good mileage and performance in both petrol & CNG mode.
The company has placed a 55-litre CNG tank in the boot, which in turn has reduced the storage space. The car comes equipped with a lot of features inside, including 2-Din SmartPlay audio system, steering mounted audio controls, speed-sensing auto door lock, etc. Speaking of dimensions, it is 3530mm long, 1490mm wide and 1520mm tall.
At the launch event, Shasank Shrivastava, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, "The Alto brand has been a symbol of how Maruti Suzuki has evolved in response to customer's shifting desires. The Alto continued to be the best-selling vehicle in the country for 16 consecutive years, and we are convinced that the launch of Alto CNG will further strenghten its appeal, thanks to its stellar fuel-efficiency."
Safety features offered by the Alto K10 CNG include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and seat belt reminders.
